In the field of industrial logistics, forklift operation environment is complex and diverse, and high humidity environment is not uncommon. The unique design is designed to overcome the challenges posed by high humidity for the lead acid battery, the power core of the forklift.
1. Sealing structure design
Chemical reactions inside lead-acid batteries produce gases such as hydrogen and oxygen. In a high humidity environment, if the battery seal is not good, the external humid air is easy to mix, not only may lead to the dilution of the electrolyte inside the battery, affect the chemical reaction process, but also accelerate the corrosion of the metal components inside the battery, reduce the battery performance and life.
Forklift lead-acid batteries mostly adopt labyrinth sealing structure. This structure provides a zigzag channel at the connection between the battery cover and the tank body. When the internal gas tries to discharge, it will condense in the maze channel, and part of the water will return to the inside of the battery to reduce the electrolyte loss; At the same time, even if the external humid air has a tendency to enter, it will be blocked in the maze channel, because of the condensed water adsorption and other effects in the channel, it is difficult to enter the battery in large quantities, effectively isolating the humid air and maintaining a stable chemical environment inside the battery.
2.Shell material selection
The high humidity environment is rich in water vapor, and ordinary materials are vulnerable to erosion. Forklift lead-acid battery housings are usually made of high-strength, corrosion-resistant engineering plastics, such as polypropylene (PP) or acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS).
PP material has excellent chemical stability, good resistance to water, acid, alkali and other common substances, in the environment of high humidity and the risk of acidic electrolyte leakage, can resist corrosion for a long time, ensure the integrity of the shell, prevent electrolyte leakage, and avoid battery short circuit and other faults caused by shell damage. ABS material has good mechanical strength and chemical resistance, and its rigid structure can withstand the possible collision and vibration during the operation of forklift trucks. In high humidity environment, it will not affect the protection performance of the battery due to material deterioration, providing a reliable external barrier for the internal precision structure of the battery.
3.Special plate processing technology
The plate is a key component of lead-acid battery. In high humidity environment, the surface of the plate is prone to oxidation, vulcanization and other reactions, which reduces the efficiency and capacity of the battery.
For this reason, the forklift lead-acid battery plate adopts special alloy formula and surface treatment technology. Specific elements, such as calcium and tin, are added to the plate alloy to enhance the corrosion resistance of the plate and slow down the oxidation process in high humidity environments. In terms of surface treatment, a dense protective film is formed on the surface of the plate through a fine coating process. This layer can not only prevent water from attaching to the surface of the plate and causing chemical reactions through penetration, but also does not affect the normal ion exchange between the plate and the electrolyte, so as to ensure the efficient chemical reaction during the battery charging and discharging process and maintain the stable performance output of the battery in a high humidity environment.
4.Humidity monitoring and intelligent control system
Some advanced forklift lead-acid batteries are equipped with humidity monitoring and intelligent control systems. The humidity sensor monitors the humidity inside the battery in real time, and once the humidity exceeds the preset safety range, the intelligent control system starts to take countermeasures.
On the one hand, the system can adjust the internal heating element of the battery (if there is one), appropriately increase the internal temperature of the battery, promote the evaporation of water, and discharge excess water vapor through the exhaust channel in the sealed structure to reduce the internal humidity; On the other hand, the intelligent control system can also dynamically adjust the charging strategy according to the change of humidity and the charging and discharging state of the battery. For example, in a high humidity environment, the charging current should be appropriately reduced to avoid moisture condensation and abnormal chemical reaction due to heat generation during charging, ensure the safe and stable operation of the battery under complex and high humidity conditions, extend the overall service life of the battery, and improve the operation efficiency and reliability of the forklift truck.
